Dr. Quanda Collins

Principal

Dr. Quanda Collins earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in biology from Hendrix College in 1994, a Master of Arts degree in Educational Leadership from Concordia University in 2008, and a Doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from Texas Wesleyan University in 2020. She acknowledges the contributions of her own leaders and mentors over the years, who have afforded her many opportunities to grow and lead. As a Principal Impact Collaborative Fellow, Dr. Collins credits the challenging work during the two-year fellowship as critical to her continued growth and development.

She began her journey as a public-school educator in North Carolina in 1998 as a middle school math and science teacher with Onslow County Schools. Since 2001, she has served children enrolled in the Fort Worth Independent School District in various roles. Over the past 25 years, her K-12 experiences as a teacher, central office curriculum specialist in secondary mathematics, assistant principal, and principal have prepared her to mentor and lead her teachers and staff.

Dr. Collins' dedication and commitment to students is grounded in advocacy and equity, ensuring all students are afforded the opportunities and resources to be successful. Dr. Carol Dweck’s growth mindset work continues to influence Dr. Collins’ work on a daily basis.

Mrs. Lorena "Lori" Hufnagle

Assistant Principal

Lori Hufnagle was born and raised on the south side of Fort Worth. Mrs. Hufnagle graduated with her bachelor's degree in biology from Our Lady of the Lake University located in San Antonio, TX. She earned her Master of Education degree in Cross-Categorical Special Education from Grand Canyon University.

Mrs. Hufnagle has 14 years experience as a science teacher and department chair, and she is continuously striving to learn something new with every turn life has taken her. She has been the assistant principal at TCC South/FWISD Collegiate High School since 2021.

She is married to Dr. Donovan Hufnagle, who is a professor at the Tarrant County College Northeast campus. Together, they have three wonderful children.

What she wanted to be when she grew up flip-flopped between one of those manikins in the storefront window or a surgeon. Her parents were quite relieved when she leaned towards the latter; they had worked really hard to show her younger sister and her that they could be whatever they wanted if they threw in a little elbow grease and a ton of dedication. Coming from a first generation, Spanish- speaking, Hispanic family, adversity and her were no strangers to each other. She quickly learned that she needed to keep my wits about her in order to catch up to those around her and that she needed to work even harder for the opportunity to look at them in the rear-view mirror. When she was 6 years old, she was enrolled in a school with students and teachers that only spoke English during a time when English Language Learning supports were not a thing. She was forced to learn to figure things out very quickly. The grit that she had developed bloomed into a love for learning and a curiosity for finding out what is around the corner. She hopes to instill that same passion in the faculty, staff, and students.
